Bernie Rothauer   percussion/photography

 

Bernie Rothauer has been a freelance musician, sound engineer and rhythm teacher in Salzburg since 1989. He has intensively explored West African, Brazilian and Cuban rhythms, as well as Greek and Klezmer music. He has had his own studio since 2003 and founded the ôbaxé-music label in 2007.

In addition to his participation in various theater productions, most prominently in the play Jedermann at the annual Salzburg Festival (Salzburger Festspiele), Bernie Rothauer was the winner of the 1st Austrian world music awards (Folkförderpreis) with his band Kakilambe. He also designed dance accompaniments for and with Editha Braun (A), Tina Woodley (NL), Adriana Carneiro (Bra), and Adao Cesar de Lima (Bra). He has shared the stage with other recognized musicians such as Dudu Tucci, Alegre Correa, Guem, Mamady Keita, Angelo Branduardi, Glen Velez and Willi Resetarits.
