Georg Degenhardt –Percussion
The music of the Ostbeatbend is imbued with the Georg’s experience with a wide variety of percussion instruments such as the frame drum, the darbuka, and the tombak, among many others. His vast experience comes from his decades-long study of ethnic-percussion.
Georg has been involved in many world music projects and CD recordings.
Georg also studied classical Persian music, plays the Persian ney flute, and is member of two Sufi music ensembles as well as of the improvisation group Deneb.
Georg’s musical development has been greatly influenced by his collaboration with musicians from different nations and by the fusion of African, Asian, and Western musical elements.
The universal and spiritual language of music through the respectful connection of different musical cultures is important to Georg.
