As an active member of the Salzburg music scene for many years (Atrium, BlueSmile, etc.), Mike Berkitsch has also shared his enthusiasm for Balkan music since 2012. His background in rock music and his possibilities for polyphonic singing had a decisive influence on the early years of the Ostbeatbend.

In 2015 Mike Berkitsch left Ostbeatbend for professional reasons.
